2022-2023 Season
Dear Friends,
The Kingston Symphony, a cornerstone of cultural life in this great city, has persevered over the last two years. From our engagement in the community, our digital projects, and our live streamed concerts, we are proud of what we have accomplished. Now, FINALLY, we return to the stage as a full orchestra once again, performing some of history’s greatest art, live and right in front of you. Make no mistake – we have our most extraordinary season to date lined up for you!
We have towering blockbusters, music that has stood for centuries as the greatest of masterworks, such as Brahms’ Second Symphony, Dvorak’s New World Symphony, a festival trio of Mozart’s late symphonies, and Beethoven’s immortal Ninth. We have new works by Canadian composers Marjan Mozetich and Dean Burry. Avan Yu returns to perform Rachmaninoff’s titanic Second Piano Concerto. We celebrate the work of John Williams as part of our Masterworks Series. And in a finale not to be missed, TorQ Percussion Quartet joins us for the first time for the premiere of Nicole Lizee’s percussion concerto.
As for the Pops and Family concerts, we delve deep into the already rich repertoire of video game music courtesy of Sweden’s SCORE Productions. Kelli Trottier dazzles us with her sensational fiddling, vocals, and step dancing. Audience favourite Michael Vanhevel croons his way into our hearts. Our own Harmon the Hound makes her stage debut with Harmon Live. Al Simmons joins us for gut-busting entertainment for all ages, and our beloved Candlelight Christmas concerts triumphantly return once again.
We have missed you deeply, and we can’t wait to perform this unbelievable music for you. Welcome back!
