Beat Beethoven Run

May 6, 2020

After carefully considering all options, we have no choice but to cancel this year’s Beat Beethoven Run, which was scheduled for Sunday, June 7, 2020. This was not an easy decision to make, but we believe it to be in the best interest of our participants, volunteers, spectators, musicians, and community-at-large. The City of Kingston has suspended public use of all parks and facilities until further notice and Confederation Park will not be available for use in June.

Due to the uncertainty of the current situation, postponing to a later date was not a viable option. A virtual run was also considered, but we felt that we could not deliver the same excitement as the actual event.

We hope to see brighter days ahead and we are setting our sights on next year’s race, which as tradition holds will take place on the first Sunday in June – Sunday, June 6, 2021.

Given the unique circumstances involved, registrants have the following options to choose from:

Automatic rollover of your registration and fee to the Beat Beethoven Run in 2021. Knowing we will have you at the start line next year is significant.

Donate your registration fee and receive a tax deduction. If you are able, one way to support the Kingston Symphony Association during this difficult time is to turn your registration fee into a donation. A tax receipt will be provided for the value of the race registration.

Receive a refund for the value of your registration fee.

We ask that you select the option that is best for you and let us know by emailing or by calling the Kingston Symphony Association office at 613-546-9729. Our office is currently closed so if you wish to contact us by phone, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.

We will be providing updates on our website as well as on social media about next year’s race. We encourage you to follow us.

We appreciate your patience and understanding. This is a challenging time for the Kingston Symphony, but we are a strong organization and with your support we will prevail. In the meantime, if you can do so safely and 6-feet apart, keep running! We look forward to seeing you at the start line in June 2021.

Runners’ Choice has organized a training program customized to help aspiring runners to achieve the goal of beating Beethoven in the 8 km race or 4 km walk/fun run. Beginning Thursday, April 9, 2020, participants for “Run to Your Own Rhythm” will meet for a nine week training program. The program will be split into two groups: 4 km finishers and 8 km finishers. Cost of the program is $80. We ask all participants are currently able to complete a 5 km walk in 60 minutes or less and are committed to exercising three times a week.

The nine week training program will be customized for each individual runner based on their ability level before the program begins. Each week incremental goals will be sent out to participants via email. The end goal will be to complete the Kingston Symphony’s Beat Beethoven run/walk in under 50 minutes. Click the “Training Program” button for more details, or call Runners’ Choice at 613-542-2410.
