THINK YOU CAN BEAT BEETHOVEN?
For the last 22 years, thousands of participants have challenged themselves to finish an 8 km race or a 4 km fun run/walk through downtown Kingston before the Kingston Symphony has finished playing 50 minutes of Beethoven's best music.
Mark your calendar for this year's event, which will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018. Both the 8 km and 4 km take place at Confederation Park with the gun going off at 10:30 a.m.
New this year!
Are you 10 years old or under? Challenge yourself to run our new 1 km kids race!
Those registered for the 1 km kids race must have a parent/legal guardian on site and should meet in front of City Hall. The race will begin at 9:45 a.m. sharp!
Race Entry Fees
8 km (timed) | $45
4 km (not timed) | $35
1 km (kids race, not timed) | $10
Entry fees include a Beat Beethoven 2018 event t-shirt. T-Shirts are guaranteed to all 8 km and 4 km entrants registered by May 15, 2018. Those registered for the 8 km will receive tech t-shirts and those registered for the 4 km will receive cotton t-shirts.
* Additional tech t-shirts available for purchase for $20 each. The deadline to purchase additional tech t-shirts is May 15, 2018.
TRAINING PROGRAM FOR 8 KM
The Beat Beethoven running specialists have a program customized to help learning and aspiring runners to achieve the goal of beating Beethoven in the 8 km race. Queen’s University coach Brant Stachel, with assistance from Race Director Robby Breadner, will unveil the program which will comfortably train participants to improve their endurance and speed leading up to the big day.
Each week incremental goals will be sent out to participants and we will have a group run for everyone, where you can have the opportunity to ask questions of the coaches, in person. The coaches will also be available via email throughout.
On the big day, the Beat Beethoven pace bunny will be ready to run with participants to help you achieve your goal of beating Beethoven in the 8 km race.
The package includes:
- 8 weeks of training assistance
- 8 weeks of scheduled goals
- 1 weekly run organized, including running the course
- Access to the coaches for questions and assistance
