At the Isabel
At the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, our Masterworks Series continues to exemplify edge-of-your-seat orchestral excellence. This series will feature Orff’s legendary Carmina Burana, Brahms’ powerful Symphony No. 1, Beethoven’s beloved Violin Concerto, Rodrigo’s intimate Concierto de Aranjuez, a composer festival featuring three Haydn symphonies, and much more. We welcome world-class soloists to our stage including violinist Jessica Linnebach, cellist Joseph Johnson, and guitarist Drew Henderson, to name just a few.
At the Grand Theatre
Our Pops Series at the Grand Theatre, we have three innovative, imaginative, and fun concerts that fit all musical tastes. We start the series off with Pierre Schryer, one of Canada’s leading traditional fiddlers, in an evening of Canadian Celtic roots music. Next, we celebrate the remarkable life of Gene Kelly with his widow and biographer Patricia Ward Kelly. This program features classic scenes from Mr. Kelly’s movies with the orchestra performing the soundtrack live. We close the season with the ultimate tribute to the musical legacy of Chicago with the dynamic, studio-tight powerhouse Brass Transit.
Perfect for the music lover who listens to a wide range of musical styles and desires flexibility. Create your own subscription series by picking four or more concerts from the Masterworks Series, Pops Series, or Special Concerts. Enjoy the luxury of subscribing with the convenience of choice!
We are excited to present two family concerts as well as our annual Candlelight Christmas concerts. Experience the story of western Black music through African hymn, jazz, funk, and hip-hop at Black is Beautiful with Symphony Nova Scotia’s Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser and let Canadian composer Dean Burry’s Carnival of the Dinosaurs take you back to pre-historic times. Due to the past popularity of our Candlelight Christmas concerts, we have added an additional performance for a total of three.
