Education and Youth

Our education and youth programs are focused on providing our community with the opportunity to learn and interact with classical music in a more meaningful way. 

KINGSTON YOUTH ORCHESTRA, YOUTH STRINGS AND A-STRINGS

The Kingston Youth Orchestra, Youth Strings, and A-Strings and are ensembles that give young and developing musicians the opportunity to practice and perform together and work with professional musicians. Their concerts are well-attended by friends and families of the young musicians as well as many community members. 

SYMPHONY EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP

The Symphony Education Partnership program provides over 3,000 Grade 4 students from our region the opportunity to learn more about classical music and attend a live Kingston Symphony performance.

BEFORE THE DOWNBEAT

The Before the Downbeat program is a series of initiatives that are intended to enhance the concert experience for all by providing both interactive and educational pre-concert opportunities.  For a full list of our Before the Downbeat initiatives please click here.

MEET THE MUSIC

Meet the Music is a 30-minute pre-concert presentation held one hour before our Masterworks Series concerts. Hosted by our Music Director, these talks provide further insight into the music the audience will hear at the concert.

SOUNDSYNC

SoundSync is an innovative program that allows audience members to have program notes streamed to their cellular device in real time during concerts.

MEET THE MUSICIANS AND DRESS REHEARSAL VIDEOS

The Kingston Symphony produces these video series in order to provide educational information and heighten our community’s awareness of upcoming concerts. The Meet the Musicians series feature a member of the Kingston Symphony discussing what they look forward to most in regards to that week’s concert and the Dress Rehearsal Videos provides a behind-the-scenes look at orchestra rehearsals as well as an informative interview with our Music Director.
