Development Coordinator

The Kingston Symphony Association is searching for an experienced development professional to join our team.

 

Position Description

The Development Coordinator for the Kingston Symphony Association is a full-time position, reporting to the General Manager. Working closely with the Development Committee and the General Manager, the Development Coordinator takes a lead role in broadening the donor base and increasing the overall financial support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government. The successful applicant will be expected to produce measurable results. Please see below for specific duties and responsibilities.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in non-profit fundraising and/or demonstrated success in campaign and event management
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member
  • Ability to successfully prioritize to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Superior interpersonal and communications skills to successfully interact and build relationships with a diverse group of people both internally and externally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess initiative
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and GSuite
  • Ability to learn and use Customer Relationship Management system
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends
  • An interest in classical music

Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Planning:

  • Recommend  the annual fundraising goals
  • Develop the strategies for achieving these goals, in consultation with the Development Committee and General Manager
  • Recommend the expense budget related to implementing the fundraising plan
  • Provide budget updates and reports

 

Research:

  • Research new prospects for individual, corporate, and foundation support
  • Assist in securing support from these prospects
  • Coordinate the production of donor requests and assist with campaigns, special events, and projects

 

Donor Management and Relations:

  • Serve as a liaison between the Kingston Symphony Association and its contributors
  • Organize and attend donor events and receptions
  • Assist in the planning and execution of annual fund appeals
  • Coordinate the Friends of the Symphony and Encore Society programs
  • Assist in implementing a planned giving strategy
  • Attend concerts and events and support the stewardship of donors and prospects

 

Writing and Communications:

  • Maintain an accurate and updated database of donor records
  • Prepare database for donor campaign
  • Prepare individual donor campaign mail-out materials
  • Assist with writing grant applications, foundation proposals, and sponsorship packages
  • Prepare acknowledgement letters
  • Update presence through CanadaHelps in order to encourage and increase online individual giving

 

Fundraising Events:

  • Develop and execute plans for annual fundraising events
  • Seek out sponsors and coordinate all aspects of these events
  • Be a liaison between the Volunteer Committee and the office
