Endowment & Legacy Giving

Let music be your legacy. Legacy gifts help build the Kingston Symphony’s endowment funds held at the Community Foundation for Kingston & Area and the Ontario Arts Foundation. These funds, which are invested in perpetuity and stewarded to return a stable annual income for the orchestra, provide invaluable support for the work undertaken by the Kingston Symphony each year.

If you believe in the future of the Kingston Symphony and wish to see it continue to thrive, then please consider naming the Kingston Symphony as a beneficiary of your estate and know your legacy will give the gift of orchestral music to future generations. You can bequeath cash, securities, property, or a percentage of your estate. Your estate receives a charitable tax receipt that can decrease (or even eliminate) estate taxes. When considering making a legacy gift, you may want to begin with a conversation with your family and your lawyer. We are here to help and we can work with you to find the best way to leave the legacy you intend.

Steps to Leave a Legacy to the Kingston Symphony

  1. Talk to your loved ones and financial advisor.

Leaving a gift in your Will is a very personal decision which requires time and deliberation. You may want to discuss your intentions with your family to make sure this is the right choice for you. Your financial advisor can help you to understand the different giving options available.

  2. Update your Will.

Talk to your lawyer about updating your Will to include your gift to the Kingston Symphony Association. Please know that at any time in the future, you have the right to change your mind about your bequest.

  3. Notify us of your bequest.

Consider reaching out to us to let us know about your bequest. We would like to thank you and we will reach out to you to make sure we understand how you would like your gift to be allocated.
